# Add your own game: HTML, folder, .zip or .play

The game files Offline Games and PlayDrop accept: one HTML file, a static folder or .zip, or a .play package.

## What you can add

Offline Games plays web mini games made of static files. Add one from the Files app:

- **One HTML file**: a game that fits in a single `.html` page, with its scripts, styles and images inside it or loaded from the web.
- **A folder or .zip**: a static web game with an HTML page that starts it (usually `index.html`) and the files it loads, such as scripts, images and sounds, linked with relative paths. If there are several HTML pages and no `catalogue.json`, Offline Games asks which page starts the game.
- **A .play file**: a PlayDrop game package, which is a .zip of the game's files renamed `.play`. Offline Games shares your own games as `.play` files, so friends can add them too.

## What works

- Once added, a game runs on your device, even offline. Anything it loads from the internet still needs a connection.
- Only static files run: server code such as PHP or Node does not.
- A game can have up to 10,000 files and 512 MB, with 100 MB per file.
- Games that use the PlayDrop SDK keep their progress through it; other games keep what they store in the browser on your device.

## Name, description and picture

Offline Games fills in the name and description from the game's page title and description, or from its `catalogue.json`, and its picture from an image in the game's files when it finds one. Otherwise it uses the file name. You can change them before adding the game.

## Upload to PlayDrop

When you are signed in, you can also upload the game to your PlayDrop account as you add it: **Private** keeps a backup only you can open, **Unlisted** lets friends with the link play, and **Public** lists it for everyone. Unlisted and public games get a link to share. Uploads take up to 512 files, 50 MB per file and 200 MB per game. See [Publishing](https://www.playdrop.ai/create/learn/publishing) for how PlayDrop publishes games.
