Hollow Pines

A third-person survival horror walk through a foggy Pacific Northwest forest at night.

Your car is wrecked at the edge of the woods, and shadow-wrapped figures stalk the trail to an old Lumber Mill. Its gate is locked: follow the side path to an abandoned cabin, take the glowing Rusty Key and fight your way back. Bullets pass straight through their dark shield, so first focus your flashlight to burn the shadow away until it shatters in a bright flash, then finish them with your revolver.

• Safe havens: brightly lit streetlamps heal you, save your progress and burn away anything that follows you in.
• Generators: some havens have lost power. Mash the generator to bring the light back and save a checkpoint, while the dark closes in.
• Fast and Heavy Taken: quick ones side-step your beam but have thin shields; sledgehammer brutes take twice as long to burn.
• Flashbangs (G): goes off after 1.5 s and strips every shield within 10 m in a blinding white flash.
• Settings: graphics quality, master/music/SFX volume, English or Spanish, mouse sensitivity, from the main menu or the ESC pause menu.
• Red flares: drop one at your feet for a zone of red light and heavy smoke that burns shields off and drives enemies back.
• Poltergeists: barrels, pipes and tires wrapped in smoke rise and hurl themselves at you. Focus your beam to burn them out of the air.
• Cinematic dodge: tap Shift exactly as an attacker swings for a full second of slow motion.
• Manuscript pages and inner monologue: six glowing pages tell a story of the night that seems to be coming true.
