About Muskets of 1776
Command the Continental Army or the British Crown from April 1775 to the Treaty of Paris in September 1783. Each turn is one month on a realistic 3D map of eastern North America, with mountains, rivers, forests, farms and star forts.
- Manage historic places: Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Charleston, Quebec, Fort Ticonderoga, Fort Pitt, Saratoga, Yorktown and more.
- Build fortifications (earthworks, palisade, star fort), muster fields, barracks, stables, cannon foundries, supply depots and markets.
- Raise historic regiments: Continental Line, militia, Morgan's riflemen, light dragoons, Knox's artillery and French regulars, or Redcoats, Grenadiers, Hessian fusiliers and Jäger, Loyalist provincials, Royal Artillery and the 17th Light Dragoons.
- Adopt army bonuses at the War Council: drill, bayonet training, cartridges, wagons and officers.
- Command your battles on a life-size 3D field shaped by the map: select regiments, march them, advance and fire, hold, charge with the bayonet or fall back, and switch Line, Column or Square while the CPU commands the enemy.
- Realistic volleys: regiments fire only inside their forward arc, wheel slowly, and take real drill-book time to load muskets and cannon.
- First person: become one soldier, walk anywhere on the field, aim and fire your own musket, fight with the bayonet, and order nearby regiments to advance, hold or charge.
- Weather: rain makes muskets misfire, fog hides the enemy beyond a short distance, and dusk brings low light and weaker aim.
- Battle sounds: fife and drum music, rolling musket volleys, cannon, cheering charges, cries of the wounded and spoken orders.
- Grand battles: larger regiments on a wide field, with long fights and an RTS camera (edge scroll, zoom to cursor, minimap).
- Skirmish mode: pick a side, a battlefield and an army size and fight one battle.
- Quality matters: every regiment has quality stars, attack, defense and monthly upkeep.
- 2 players on one screen (hot-seat) or online with a shared room code, or face a CPU that counters your formations and reinforces its front.
- Save your campaign from the pause menu; it also autosaves every month.
- History unfolds: the Declaration of Independence, Howe's landing, Burgoyne's campaign, the French alliance and Rochambeau's arrival.
Winter hurts troops without a supply depot. The British rule the sea lanes until France joins the war.
