Era Descent
@g2rvjc5474It's 9:47 PM. You get home from work, sit down at your laptop, and a friend emails you a link to a strange little game. Play it - and when you win, it follows you out of the screen.
How to play
- Apartment: WASD/arrows to walk, drag or click to look, E to sit at your laptop.
- Desktop: click around your apps until Sam's email arrives, then open the game link.
- Every era is now a three-floor dungeon: 15 floors in all.
- Text era: type commands like LOOK, TAKE, SAY, PULL and TALK MIRA. Press Up to recall your last command.
- Grid eras: arrow keys or WASD to move. Push blocks, pull levers, slide across ice, crack keypad codes and find each era's spell fragment. J for journal, R to reset a floor.
- 2D eras: bumping a monster starts a turn-based battle. Read its next move, then STRIKE, HEAVY, GUARD or MEND.
- Isometric and full 3D eras: walk into a monster to strike it. After it hits you, it needs a turn to recover, so press the attack.
- Mira the shopkeep waits on every floor. Talk to her for lore and side quests. She trades upgrades for side quests, not coins, and she seems to know this is a game.
- Full 3D era: an over-the-shoulder third-person floor and an escape-room floor.
- The real world: quick time events. Press, mash or hold the key shown before the bar runs out.
The Dreaming Wyrm
Xal'Gothra drags you back one era at a time until you face it as pure text. Speak the Spell of Unmaking... and then grab your laptop, lock yourself in the bathroom, reach into the screen for your still-burning sword and fight it for real. Afterwards, Mira steps out of the screen. The Wyrm can only be moved, never killed, so someone has to get the game next.
