About The Drifting Isle
A floating island of grass, trees and an endless pool drifts through the levels of the Backrooms. Lost wanderers climb aboard — build them shelter, feed them, and keep the torches and crystals burning, because when the light dies, things climb up out of the dark.
- Colony survival in 3D: shelters, a 2×2 Great Hall for 24, irrigated farms, food storage, woodcutters, firepits, crystal mines, lamps, an infirmary, a weapons workshop, watchtowers, crystal turrets, a Crystal Seedworks and a great crystal beacon.
- Light is life: every torch, lamp, crystal and flashlight is a real light. Anyone left in the dark at night is fair game.
- Ten horrors: Smilers, Hounds, Whisperers and Partygoers fear the light. Skin-Stealers, Clumps, Deathmoths, Wretches, Behemoths and the Hollow do not — fight them with clubs, rapid javelins from watchtowers and psychic beams from crystal turrets.
- Crystal is precious: mining is slow and miners get better with practice. Keep your best miners alive — you'll need 500 shards to power A-Sync's portal home.
- The clock is against you: the longer the island stays lost, the higher the threat climbs and the worse the things that come.
- Ten levels to drift over: the Lobby, the Habitable Zone, Level 9 Darkened Suburbs, Level 11.11 Flooded City, Level 14.1 Child's Play, Level 33 Dead Mall, Level 36 Desolate Terminal, the Poolrooms, Level 52 Greenfield Campus and Level 94.
- A colony of individuals: men and women with their own looks, clothes, traits and names.
- The way out: read old books into a map, rack computers, charge solar panels by day, reach A-Sync — then gather the crystal to open the portal.
